Show Refugees they are not alone this Ramadan

Ramadan Mubarak!

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches we extend our heartfelt wishes to you and your loved ones. This sacred time is for reflection, compassion and unity. It's a time when Muslims around the world come together to support those in need. In this spirit we invite you to support our urgent "One World Together for Refugees" fundraising campaign on LaunchGood.

Show our refugee sisters, brothers and children - an estimated 80% of those we help are Muslim - that they are not alone this Ramadan.

Understanding Ramadan

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is expected to begin on the evening of Friday 28th February 2025 until Sunday 30th March 2025. During this time, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, abstaining from all food and drink. This act of fasting, known as sawm, is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and serves as a means to develop self-discipline, gratitude and empathy for those less fortunate.

Common greetings during this month include "Ramadan Mubarak," meaning "Blessed Ramadan," and "Ramadan Kareem," which translates to "Generous Ramadan." These expressions convey goodwill and blessings to others during the holy month. Additionally, the term "Inshallah," meaning "God willing," is often used by Muslims to express hope for future events, acknowledging that all outcomes are subject to Allah's will.

The Plight of Refugees During Ramadan

While many of us gather with family and friends to break our fast and engage in communal prayers, countless Muslims living as refugees face a starkly different time. Displaced from their homes due to conflict and persecution, they often lack basic necessities such as food, shelter and medical care. This Ramadan, refugees from countries like Palestine, Afghanistan, Sudan, Syria and Yemen find themselves in unfamiliar lands, striving to observe their faith despite adversity.

Our Mission: One World Together for Refugees

In response to this pressing need, we have launched the "One World Together for Refugees" campaign on LaunchGood. Our mission is to provide immediate and effective assistance to refugees in Greece, France, Serbia and Bosnia. By collaborating with our trusted frontline partners we aim to deliver lifesaving aid where governmental and large NGO efforts fall short.

How Your Donation Makes a Difference

Your generous contribution can have a profound impact on the lives of refugees:

  • £10: could provide essential hygiene supplies for a family.
  • £30: could cover urgent medical care for those in need.
  • £50: could ensure access to clean, fresh water for a community.
  • £100: could provide warm clothing and blankets to protect against the cold.

In Islam, charity (sadaqah) holds immense blessings, especially during Ramadan. Your donation to our campaign is more than just financial support; it's an act of solidarity, compassion and hope. Moreover, our campaign is Zakat-eligible, ensuring that your obligatory almsgiving reaches those who need it most.
