Is forRefugees for You?

ForRefugees is a grant-making charity based in London, UK. We exist to help ensure critical humanitarian support is available to refugee men, women and children on the move in Europe where big NGOs and Governments are failing to.

Proudly and uniquely, forRefugees is more than grant-making. By regularly making self-funded trips to meet and volunteer with the NGOs in our Network, the Trustees create uniquely personal connections and friendships that are brought home and last years. By being on the ground the Trustees see, hear and feel for themselves the needs and priorities of different refugee camps, places and communities. This makes them best placed to understand the most pressing needs of the NGOs passionately helping.

This is what our Network says about forRefugees:

“forRefugees are our capacity-building support, our hands-on volunteers, our link to each other, our back-up, lifeline, shoulder to cry on. They are our advocate, star storyteller and the team we cannot wait to share our good news with. Our work is challenging, complicated, politically, and culturally, sensitive, and often lonely. ForRefugees are the partner who understands these frustrations and works with us to bring solutions to our charities and charity workers. Their passionate support of small charities assists tens of thousands of displaced people each year.”

The forRefugees Trustees invite like-minded NGOs, who are dedicated to helping refugees on the move in Europe, to join our collaborative Network.

Who Can Apply

  • Only grassroots-level NGOs (non government organisations) are eligible to apply.

  • Applications are invited from NGOs supporting refugees who are on the move in Europe.

    • The Trustees do not, as a rule, accept NGO’s whose main services are in-country refugee settlement and integration projects. There can be UK exceptions to this.

  • For consideration, applying NGOs should have an annual turnover up to a maximum of £450,000/€500,000 a year (depending on exchange rates). There is no minimum.

  • The Trustees will consider Applications from NGOs that are not registered charities.

  • The Trustees review new Applications on an ongoing basis; there are no closing dates.

Note: ForRefugees supports where big NGOs and governments are failing to. Therefore, since summer 2022, the Trustees took the difficult decision not to accept Applications relating the Ukraine War. The Trustees are truly grateful Ukranian people have received support from big NGOs and governments. Moreover, they hope for lasting peace.
