Safe Routes Save Lives: Demand Action on Asylum

People who are fleeing war, persecution, or serious danger can only seek asylum once they reach the UK. However, there are currently very few safe and accessible ways for them to do so. Family reunification pathways have been closed to new applicants, while newer schemes, such as “one in, one out”, are not a real, accessible option to the majority of those in need.

As a result, many people are left with no option but to attempt dangerous Channel crossings in small boats, simply to reach a place where they can ask for protection. Everyone deserves the chance to seek safety without risking their life.

To write to your MP about the need for safe routes, add your name, email and postcode below, then click “Start Writing”. Our template letter, which you can edit as much or as little as you like, calls for the expansion of safe routes to asylum in the UK, including restored family reunion pathways, the creation of overseas asylum processing centres, and policies that prioritise protection, dignity, and compassion over deterrence.
