When we think of Ramadan we think of happy families, lots of delicious food, new clothing, an atmosphere of gratitude, sharing, and, most importantly, giving.
But spare a thought for people living as refugees and asylum seekers during this Holy time. For them, the reality is vastly different. Displaced from their homes due to conflict and persecution, they often lack necessities like food, shelter, and medical care.
This year, during Islam’s sacred month of reflection, compassion, and unity, we ask for your kindness in the form of aid to help refugees from countries like Palestine, Afghanistan, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, amongst others, who find themselves in unfamiliar lands, hoping to follow their faith despite adversities.
Earlier this month we launched our ‘Be the answer to a Du’a’ campaign. We know that large NGOs are unable to reach the most vulnerable refugees but through donations to our campaign we can ensure that your donations go directly to our grassroots partners working directly at the frontlines with refugees across Greece, France, and the Balkans. They provide hot meals, medical care, legal aid, and a safe space; not a penny is wasted.

We understand that you want your donations to make a real impact, and so do we:
🧡 £25 can provide a week of hot meals
🧡 £50 can fund a family emergency shelter
🧡 £100 can cover legal fees for asylum cases.
All donations are Zakat eligible.
Here are just a few examples of our supporters’ Sadaqah (charity) translating into impact:
Our partners Refugee Biryani and Bananas are conducting regular food and hygiene distributions in Chios. They provide hygiene supplies and medical care to refugees who are injured, disabled, or unable to move or access distribution centres, giving them comfort and dignity.
“After my back was injured, I was lying on a mattress on the ground and could not move……….when your team reached me, I felt seen and remembered.” - Iyad, a Palestinian who now lives in Chios
The Habibi Centre is able to provide English language classes that have helped many refugees and asylum seekers to understand their rights, earn qualifications, and find work.
“We wouldn’t be here (university) if it wasn't for Habibi Centre,” says SV, who was an Afghan refugee in Greece.
Using a grant from forRefugees, Sienos Grupe in Lithuania was able to provide urgent dental care to a single mother and two daughters, amongst others.
“I just received your medical assistance, plus the Maxi card for food. Thank you so much for your help. I pray that the Eternal God, the Creator of all, will give you more resources to continue helping me. May God increase many blessings in your life.” says the mother.
These stories are just the tip of the iceberg. We hear regularly from our partners that they are struggling on shoestring budgets and reduced teams to try to reach everyone they can.
This Ramadan let’s join hands in support of those managing to practice their faith in the harshest of situations. If you are planning to give Sadaqah and Zakat during Ramadan, please consider supporting our campaign - every penny helps bring hope to refugees in their time of need.
