Your Donations Doubled and £55k Delivered with The Big Give 2024

by forRefugees
People - asylum seekers in France - are standing in line in the cold outdoors near a white van on a cloudy day, awaiting their turn to receive urgent aid from an NGO. The people are clearly cold, wearing coats and hats.

How you Helped Us Smash our £50,000 Target

We asked for your support and, once again, you delivered beyond expectations. During our Big Give Christmas Challenge an incredible 49 donations, ranging from £10 to £5,000, helped us raise £58,005 including Gift Aid. Thanks to you, and the matching funds from our amazing Pledge and Champion funders, we didn’t just meet our £50,000 target – we surpassed it! And ahead of schedule.

Your Donation Doubled and Delivered

The magic of this week-long campaign lies in every pound you give being matched, doubling your impact. Together, from Giving Tuesday 3 – 10 December, you generously donated enabling us to award 14 grants supporting over 15,000 refugee men, women and children in Greece, France and the Balkans.

These grants are already changing lives through frontline projects such as:

  • Sports for children, helping them regain their joy.
  • Urgent healthcare access and legal aid for the underserved.
  • Emergency help including somewhere to live and advocacy for mums with newborn babies.
  • Essentials like underwear, shampoo and winter emergency kits.
  • English lessons for youths, advocacy programs, and more.

ForRefugees connects your compassion to vital services ensuring your support provides more than aid, but light and hope to people enduring harsh winter conditions and systemic neglect.

Stories of Resilience and Hope

By donating to The Big Give, your generosity reaches places others do not. In Greece, where conditions in the Closed Controlled Access Centres (CCACs) and Detention Centres are dire, your support helps provide hygiene items and clothing, restoring dignity to those trapped in devastating conditions.

Or consider M, a mother supported by CRIBS International who, with your help has secured healthcare for her infant son and is now moving forward with her rights upheld.

And let’s not forget the Kurdish teenager in Dunkirk, whose optimism shone through years of hardship. Thanks to continued support he now lives safely in the Netherlands, thriving with his adoptive family.

Every Donation Matters

While the match funding has ended, the need hasn’t. If you couldn’t donate in time it’s not too late to make a difference. Every contribution helps us provide essential services to refugees who need them most.

Thank you for standing with us for humanity and for hope. Together we are making a lasting impact. 🧡
